The Cumberland Valley Bead Society is a gathering of people from the Mid-South who share a love of beads. The Society was formed in 1997 and has steadily increased both in talent and in number. We are lucky to have a diverse group of people with a large variety of specialties in the bead world. During a meeting we enjoy, show, tell, and learn a new technique for you to take away and apply to the beadwork that you enjoy. The wide range of work present at each meeting serves as an inspiration to all beaders.

Our Purpose is to promote interest, education and the appreciation of the art and craft of beadwork. It is to encourage the development of individuals, places to work, to sell, to learn, to teach and to serve the community.

Meeting Times:
The second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. at the Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin,TN.

...In Pursuit of Peace & Power...
by Candy Austin of Busy Beads & Moore

Is your life full of stress? Does your schedule burst at the seams? Does every person in your family seem to have needs that only you can fill? this describes many of us in today's hectic, fast paced world!

So... we know the source of our stress. Now what is the remedy? What has the power to clam the spirit, soothe the mind, and provide a brief, but much needed escape.

May I suggest getting in touch with your creative self! "Not a creative bone in my body!" you say. And my only reply is "Impossible!" All people are creative in some way. Oftentimes, we are simply too busy to explore our own creative needs. Yes, creativity is a need, however unrecognized. It can also be quite thrapeutic!

Put it to the test! Sometimes when you need a little peace in your life, buzz into Busy Beads & Moore. Sit down and relax witht the gorgeous or whimsical beads you have chosen. then let the folks there guide you as you lose your self in the flow of creation. It will be awesome... even inspiring!

Then, as you leave this little oasis and re-enter the world, take a moment to look within. Do you feel more energized?... more capable?... more centered? I know already what you will find! For creativity brings with a certain and dicernible power!

And you thought Busy Beads & Moore was just about Jewelry!?... Think again!

What Pliers Should I Use?
Round Nose - Use to make loops, hold small components, close jumprings, the round nose is the most versatile plier.
Chain Nose - Use for gripping or to bend angles in narrow areas, bending wire, repairs, or where precision work is required.
Flat Nose - use for bending wire or sheet at angles, and to close jumprings.
Side / End Cutter - Use for general cutting and trimming, cutting wire or bead cord. Will always leave a ">" shape.
Bent Nose - Just like chain nose, but with a bent tip.
Rosary - Basically round nose and side cutters in one tool. This is a great tool for highly repetitive work.
Loop Closing - Grooved and smooth on the inside. Used to close loops, jumprings, bracelet links, etc.
Split Ring - has tip to open split rings. Useful for repetitive split ring work.
Stone Setting - Use to tighten prongs on already set rings.
Gem Set Pliers - For precision work setting faceted stones.
